It all started when…

In September of 2021, I was in Ghana visiting the church we planted the previous year. The name of the church is NewSong Church Ghana. It was early in the morning and I was praying on the roof of the place where we were staying. I was asking the Lord what he wanted me to do in this nation. Almost immediately, I saw a group of students that were in uniforms and they were beginning their walk to school. My heart began to race, my eyes began to moisten, and the thoughts of starting a school began to fill my mind. I said to the Lord, “If this is what you want then you need to confirm it to me.”

On Sunday, during our commissioning service, we had a guest visit the church. He was a friend of our African Director, Joseph Danso Manu. He is the national minister of private schools in the nation. He made a point to talk to me after the service. He wanted to thank me for helping Ghana by starting a church. He told me there are plenty of gospel preachers in Ghana, but what Ghana really needs is education. He said, “There aren’t enough schools for all the children in Ghana.” He told me that in Ghana many people know about Jesus, but few people are well discipled. The Christian school becomes a means of discipling students and changing the nation. Our conversation continued, but I felt like the Father had given me the confirmation I needed.

Current Building Projects

1. NewSong Church Ghana

We recently secured the purchase of 6 acres and have begun construction on our first building which will be the sanctuary for the church. We will continue building the sanctuary with your support. We are currently looking to expand in the following ways.

2. Christian School

The first phase of the Christian School will be an elementary school. Once this is established, we will add additional secondary grades. Eventually, there will be a college preparatory track and a vocational track that will include welding, plumbing, electrical, etc.

3. Mental Health Counseling Center

The mental health resources that are available throughout this nation are scarce. We will provide counseling with trained licensed counselors.

4. Transitional Homes: (shelter) on the property

We would like to build and offer transitional homes/shelter for populations (age 18 and above) who have experienced psychological trauma such as: domestic violence with all forms of sexual and emotional abuse, PTSD, postpartum depression, etc. Ghana has a few orphanages which admit the population ages zero to 18 years. However, there is nothing like shelter homes for populations 18 years and above needing protection from domestic violence, rape, and many other social crises that call for immediate and temporary accommodation. Currently, the women and children who are seeking help after domestic abuse at hospitals and other mental health services still have to go back to live in the same place with court cases pending. This same environment becomes a death trap for them as perpetrators plan more evil to take their lives or threaten them to withdraw cases from the court. Thus, there is a need for shelter homes to complete our public health services to our clients, according to a Deputy Director for Ghana Nursing and Health Services (Madam Gifty Asante, Head of Nursing for Ledjokuku/LEKMA Hospital, Teshie Area).
